Go to a credit union. They will often times open a savings account. there are courses you can take to get you off of Chex systems. Also, depending on the credit union they may make an exception and open you a checking account.

Not sure where in northeast ohio you are, but in Garfield Heights at the Citiview plaza off Transportation Blvd., there is a Woodforest National Bank inside of Walmart (this is the only Walmart I know of that has a Woodforest in it - there may be others). It's originally based out of Texas and is starting to open in all Walmart stores. They offer a great second chance plan and, if you are able to clear up the account which has you in Chexsystems while you are with them, you can be transferred to a regular checking account. The staff is very on top of things, remember their customers and take time to call you if there are problems with your account without delay. Their fees are reasonable, too. There is also a website.
